In 1881 The cross Pen Company was Established in Boston initially specialising in Stylographic Pens. in 1918 Russell Boss Snr introduced an economy line of writing instruments known as “Alwrite” to cater for the less expensive market. By 1920 he had taken over the entire Company. The lines introduced by Cross were mainly Gold filled or Sterling silver and the production of mainly metal pens continues to this day. In 1982 the Century pen was released and these, although numerous in number , are highly collectable and make superb every day writers. The Townsend is also a superb pen to write with. Rare pens to look out for are the solid gold and silver versions of the well know models
