The Name Faber – Castell has been used since the the 18th Century when the Fabers set up a Pencil Manufacturing Business. By the 19th Century the family business had grown considerably with a Subsidiary in the USA.
Family members then went out on their own and by the time Fountain pens were made the name Faber-Castell was used by several different manufacturers
In 1929 one of the German Branches of the family acquired Osmia and a significant number of fountain pens began to be made. After the War Pens began to be marked with A.W Faber Castell
By 1975 The manufacturing of Fountain Pens had Ceased
The Graf von Faber-Castell brand was launched in 1993 by Count Anton-Wolfgang von Faber-Castell, the eighth-generation heir to the Faber-Castell family. This Company began manufacturing Writing instruments again and are still producing exceptionally high quality items today
