Sheaffer

In 1907 W.A Sheaffer invented the lever filling mechanism which was much copied, with minor patent changes, until well into the 1960’s. Throughout the Companies history many different filling mechanisms have been invented with particular reference to the famous “snorkel” fillers of the 40’s and 50’s. Some of the most beautiful pens were made in the 30’s and early forties, the Vacuum fillers being wonderful pens to use providing they have been fully serviced with new seals. Early Lifetime pens with good colour are particularly collectable. Pens from the 60’s and 70’s are much sought after as they make excellent everyday
